RUPTURE OF HEPATOCELLULAR CARCINOMA





Abstract
It has been known that spontaneous intra-abdominal rupture of hepatocellular carcinoma is one of very rare complication of malignant liver tumor. But the rate of it was above 10% in hepatocellular carcinoma of liver reported in England and China and 3.4% in our study.
This paper reports 12 cases of spontaneous intra-abdominal rupture of hepatocellular carcinoma experienced in surgical department of Catholic Medical College, Medical School of Seoul National University, Sacred Heart Hospital and Gospel Hospital, Pu San.
When it occurred, the clinical states were critical, and emergency surgical treatment such as hepatic lobectomy, legation of hepatic artery, simple closure of bleeding points or gauze packing could be made.
In our study of 12 cases, most of it were just Open and Closure with liver biopsy, but in 3 cases hepatic lobectomy were performed.
The longest survival after surgery was 3 months in cases of hepatic lobectomy, who is still alive. The authors are also review of references.
